FPD- series Product Release
SWPG compliance interconnect solution for LCD panel and notebook industry

Pasadena, California, January 10, 2001 - Connector manufacturer Sunridge Corp today announced the release of FPD- series, an interconnection system designed specifically for notebook-LCD display application. This new release was inspired by standardization initiative led by Standard Panel Working Group (SPWG, a standard setting group sponsored by leading notebook OEMs, whose charter is to promote the form factor compatibility among LCD panel makers), and it comes as the fruition of the company's committed engineering efforts in ensuring spec and performance compliance to SPWG requirement.

Intended to serve LCD panel and notebook computer industries, the FPD- series covers not only all connectors used on panel side as specified by SPWG, but also the parts needed to build panel-to-chassis interface cabling solution. Interconnect compatibility between LCD panel and notebook chassis is thus best ensured. The FPD- series boasts a comprehensive line up, ranging from interface pin header of different mounting styles, to backlight connector kit of various pitch selections, to a complete coverage of connectors as required for interface cable assemblies (be it discrete wire harness, flexible printed circuit, or coaxial wiring designs), allowing an one-stop source for the notebook-panel interface application.

With key components in place, vertical integration represents a business strategy that makes win-win sense to benefit Sunridge and its customers. Sunridge, built on its competence in connector and cable assembly expertise, intends to make earnest efforts to support notebook OEMs with complete panel-to-chassis cable assembly solutions. The advantages uniquely held by Sunridge in this value added proposition are obvious: captive production of all critical connector parts, which ensures lowest BOM cost and abundant part supply; volume capacity of its cable assembly facility, which draws on economy of scale, and optimizes process flow and integration; and its in-depth knowledge in interconnect design and EMI signal transmission field. These all translate to benefits to Notebook OEM customers in forms of: simplified design effort, improved reliability, less serviceability issue, streamlined supplier management, and, of course, reduced cost.

Sunridge is well positioned to play a contributive role in this very competitive panel-and-notebook supply network, offering an entire line of high quality products at significant cost advantage. Sunridge is now sampling the products and soliciting customers, and plans to enter into mass production in the middle of Q1, 2001. Sunridge Corp is among a long list of companies who endorse SPWG with full efforts. Sunridge, committed to the development forefront, has been closely kept abreast with, and seeks to contribute to, SPWG's technology advancement.
