Qualification & Production Release:
0.50mm pitch, very slim form factor, compression connector for info-appliances 

Pasadena, California, April 16, 2001 - Connector manufacturer Sunridge Corp today attained the qualification status of a 0.50mm pitch compression connector, a custom designed component for a multinational info-device OEM. Sunridge Corp, standing out from a pack formidable contenders including those from Japan and Europe, was awarded this contract in early March, and fulfilled its promise to release and qualify this new project in a streamlined 6 weeks cycle. Comparatively, other bidders all requested 12 to 16 weeks just for tooling try out. The OEM customer is extremely pleased with Sunridge's expediency, which is well in sync with its very intense production-to-market window, and is scheduling for Sunridge to enter into mass production, with monthly quantity in hundreds of thousand, effectively mid Q2/'01.

Two unique and demanding features make this custom part an engineering challenge: a 1X16 compression pin array to be contained in a tiny package of 2mm X 2mm X 10mm; and, a convoluted cantilever contact design whose normal force is held with tight precision, a subtle yet critical feature needed to ensure optimal performance and reliability of OEM's end product. 

This accomplishment, Sunridge Corp asserted, marked another example that speaks volume to its engineering competence and cost effectiveness, and will serve as a solid knowledge platform - particularly, in specific areas of fine pitch and spring load characteristics - for the company to take on new projects that demand such exactitude of engineering rigor.
